Crash Closed I-70 For Several Hours, Driver Dead.


The driver of a tanker truck involved in a crash this morning on I-70 near Mt. Comfort Road has unfortunately died.
The crash happened near mile marker 95.2 just before 9 a.m. Indiana State Police said a truck ran off the road and crashed into a bridge, spilling fuel onto the interstate. Investigators said two tires on the truck blew, causing the driver to lose control.
The driver was seriously injured and was taken to an area hospital for treatment but he couldn’t make it so is pronounced dead. Authority Indiana state Police Sgt. John Perrine, both directions of I-70 are closed at Mt. Comfort following a tanker truck that has crashed into bridge, spilling oil onto the interstate . Sgt. John Perrine from ISP said the tanker broke in half! One lane in each direction of I-70 is still closed while clean-up continues. Drivers should seek alternate routes for their afternoon commute. Due to the large amount of oil that was spilled, they’re asking motorists to be cautious in the area of the crash.
